One Energy are proud to announce an official partnership with Burnley FC in the Community, the charity arm of Burnley Football Club. This collaboration aims to address the growing challenge of fuel poverty in the Burnley and Pendle areas by providing local residents with the support and resources and funding they need to improve home efficiency and reduce energy bills.
Burnley FC in the Community is an award-winning charity known for its wide-ranging work to transform lives through innovative programmes. Supporting thousands of individuals across Burnley and Pendle, the charity’s initiatives span health and wellbeing, education and employability, youth engagement, community welfare, and now via the partnership with One Energy, fuel poverty. Notably, their foodbank services supported over 40,000 people last year, while projects such as the “Down Town Burnley” café, delivered in partnership with Burnley Together, provide critical resources for the area’s most vulnerable residents.
As part of this new partnership, One Energy and BFCitC are shaping up various energy saving initiatives and plan to announce more information on these over the forthcoming weeks. One initiative we are particularly excited about is a regular FREE Energy Saving Workshop event designed to offer practical advice on reducing energy bills and improving energy efficiency at home. These workshops are set to empower residents with the funding, knowledge and tools to make lasting changes, helping them save money while contributing to Burnley’s wider sustainability goals.
Harvey Mason, Founder of One Energy, expressed his excitement about the partnership:
“Burnley FC in the Community has a long history of supporting people across the area, and their work aligns perfectly with our mission to make energy-saving solutions accessible to all. We’re proud to be working together to help households not only reduce their energy bills but also live more sustainably. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the community.”
Through the partnership, One Energy will provide guidance on accessing government-funded energy-saving grants, such as the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) scheme, which funds energy efficiency improvements for low-income households, and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which offers grants of up to £7,500 for low-carbon heating systems. These initiatives form part of the UK Government’s ambitious drive to achieve net zero by 2050, underpinned by significant financial commitments for household energy efficiency schemes.
Ben Bottomley, Head of Partnerships and Fundraising at Burnley FC in the Community, added:
“We are delighted to partner with One Energy to extend our support to those who need it most in our community. Fuel poverty is a growing issue, and by joining forces, we can help families access the resources and advice they need to improve their quality of life and reduce the financial burden of energy costs.”
The UK Government’s investments, such as the Great British Insulation Scheme and other initiatives under the Warm Homes Plan, aim to ensure communities like Burnley benefit directly from these funds. Local residents can access grants and support to improve home insulation, upgrade heating systems, and reduce energy waste—measures that collectively contribute to lower energy bills and a smaller carbon footprint.

This partnership is more than just a collaboration—it’s a commitment to building a brighter, more sustainable future for Burnley. Together, One Energy and Burnley FC in the Community are working to ensure no resident is left behind in the journey toward energy efficiency and a better quality of life.
